NON-CATHOLIC INSTITUTIONS OFFICE

This office is mandated to minister to all Non-Catholic Institutions in the Archdiocese of Cape Coast. Currently, the Chaplain provides pastoral care in 5 Non-Catholic Institution Schools, namely:

• Aggrey Memorial Zion Senior High School

• Mfantsipim Senior High School

• Wesley Girls  Senior High School

• Adisadel College

• SAMO Senior High/Technical School

The Chaplaincy aims at establishing Catholic Communities and organizing them into miniature parishes in these schools. This is expected to make the students feel a certain attachment to the various communities in which the schools are situated, and the Catholic Church as whole. Some student communities have started acquiring Mass vestments, musical instruments, altar cloths, public address systems and choir robes. They are being prepared gradually to become self-sufficient, so that any priest could walk in to say Mass without a Mass Box, albeit in a classroom.

Activities:

The regular activities of the Chaplaincy include:

• Celebrating Mass for students

• Confirmations

• Teaching of Catholic Doctrines and Morals

• Provision of Counseling Services

• Organizing Programmes to educate students on HIV/AIDS, Drug Abuse, Career Counseling, Personal Hygiene, Responsible Behaviour, etc.

• Currently Rev. Fr. Maurice Gym is the chaplain taking care of these institutions.

• Rev. Fr. Joseph Mensah is in charge of Cape Coast Polytechnic and Cape  Coast Technical Institute
